treasures Bob Dylan. This is a witty homage to the man by one of the guys
saddled with the title: “The New Bob Dylan”. Happy birthday, Mr. Zimmerman!

Yesterday was the anniversary of the passing of the great Roy
Orbison in 1988. It was just months after his return to the charts with the
Traveling Wilburys. “Lefty” Wilbury’s tenor shone brightly on this first single
from the supergroup’s first album “Vol. 1” and just before the posthumous
release of his comeback solo LP “Mystery Girl”. There never was a voice like
his in rock music. Not before. Not since.
The Wilbury’s were hugely popular in late ’88. It is
difficult to believe only 2 survive from the original 5. We are left with only
the memories and tremendous musical libraries of: “Lefty Wilbury” (Orbison),
“Nelson Wilbury” (George Harrison), “Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr” (Tom Petty). We
still have the continuing musical output of “Otis Wilbury” (Jeff Lynne) and
“Lucky Wilbury” (Bob Dylan) to console us.
Luckily, for a short while in the late 80’s we were
fortunate enough to revel in the joyous noise of The Traveling Wilburys.
