#1999 – SHOOTIN’ FOR THE MOON – 10/18/2019
Every once in a while you’ll pick up a new sound from an
abnormal source. Such is the case with me and Sonny Landreth. I was channel
surfing one night and Entertainment Tonight (of all programs) was highlighting
Sonny’s then recent 1995 release “South of I-10”. I’ve been hooked ever since. Sonny’s
killer slide playing is the standout on this tune, but it also features
background vocals by one Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. Knopfler has been a fan
of Sonny’s since his involvement with this tune recording with him on 3
subsequent occasions. Sonny is a slide master from Louisiana
