#2084 - SHAKE – 11/6/2019
There have long been debates over the title of greatest male
R & B vocalist. For my money, it is tough to vote against Marvin Gaye, Sam
Cooke, Smokey Robinson, James Brown or Curtis Mayfield, but my favorite is
still mighty Otis Redding. This is a perfect example of his showmanship and
powerful stage presence coming from the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. From the
minute Tommy Smothers introduces him, he grabs the audience and shakes them –
literally.
