#445 –HELLBOUND TRAIN - 10/28/2019
Gotta drop a big thank you to my cousin, Chuck for turning
me on to this one. Chuck had the coolest, most eclectic record collection that
he’d let me peruse back in the day. Listening to the records in his collection
broadened my musical horizons in leaps and bounds. This was (and still is) a
personal favorite from those days.
Guitar maestro Kim Simmons was the cornerstone of Savoy
Brown, who made their bones as a boogie band in the vein of Foghat or Ten Years
After. This tune has always struck me as a departure from that formula with
Simmons feisty shredding over the propulsive bass line. Happy Halloween
everybody!
