#156 – CAN’T YOU HEAR ME KNOCKIN’ – 12/18/2019

Happy Birthday to Keith Richards & the late, great Bobby Keyes – both born on this day in 1943. Both these legendary musicians may have been born on the same day half a world apart (Britain & Texas), but you’d be hard pressed to find 2 more kindred spirits.

A bunch of us were lucky enough to see this song live from the nosebleed seats on this 40 Licks Tour in Feb 1, 2003. The incendiary version the Stones put out that day – complete with monumental Bobby Keyes sax solo – is one of my Top 10 Musical Concert Memories, while the concert experience itself with a van full of crazy people is the stuff of Beautiful People Legend.
