Robert Smith, leader of The Cure, was born 61 years ago
today in Blackpool on England ’s
northwest coast. This tune comes from “Disintegration”. It is the album that
marked band’s most wide-spread commercial acceptance – in the U.S anyway – and
features a brooding bass line and stinging guitar.
I can’t hear any Cure song without thinking of my buddy John
Rees, from my days up in Black Hawk working at the casinos. John and I were
pretty dissimilar, and yet became great friends for the 4 plus years we were
working together. One day we realized we were both Cure fans which lead to some
of our late afternoons grooving to the band while doing our end of day IT
duties. I don’t know when I will see you again, my friend, but I wish all good
things for ya. Stay well & stay safe.
