My buddy Steve brought up this band after a recent
post and I thought I would include it here today. The Pousette-Dart Band was
born out of the Cambridge
(Mass) coffee houses in the early 70’s. Leader and key singer and songwriter
Jon Pousette-Dart, was able to craft fairly intelligent lyrics and lay them
over some of the best hooks in mid-70s’ pop music. You can look up many of
their tunes on YOUTUBE and get a good sample of their music (SMILE ON ME,
HALLELUJAH, I’M A BUM, HALO, WHAT CAN I SAY). I’ve often wondered if they had
received their recording contract 3 or 4 years previous would they have been
regarded as more than a regional footnote in music history. Thanks for the
reminder, buddy.
